Camera club: mini chat groups

We are going to try having mini chat groups in the camera club. The most common piece of feedback from my recent poll was that although nobody really felt left out, many people found it difficult to meet new people in the group. Hopefully this initiative will enable you to make new friends in the group.

How it will work

To join in fill in the form below.

I will allocate everybody into a mini chat group with 4-6 people in each, mixing up new members with more established ones.

One person from each group will set up your group which will be accessed via the messaging section in the community:

I’ll post new talking points for a month for everyone to discuss in their mini chat groups.

At the end of the month you can keep the group going if everybody wants to, or you can leave, or you can let them gracefully retire. If it is successful I will start afresh with new groups the next time we have new joiners.

To join in:

• You must be willing to “connect” with everyone else in your group for at least the duration of the chat (you will do this once the groups have been allocated). This is an option available on your profile. Only people who have agreed to connect with each other can send/receive chat messages, for privacy reasons.

• You must be willing to join in the chats each week; you will have time to check in to the platform at least once a week during August and engage in your chat group. If you can’t commit then skip it this time and join in next time.
